Do You Fear God? (Part 17)
Another trait of the people of the last days is that they are haughty or high-minded: Blatantly and disdainfully proud; Puffed up; Conceited; Feelings of self-importance. It is a person who feels so educated, so scientific, so advanced, so high in position and authority, ability, and gifts that he feels completely self-sufficient. They feel no need for God. In their mind, they are above God and above most people. Isaiah 5:21 (KJV): “Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!” Are you a haughty, high-minded person? You not only know more than most people, but you also know more than God, in your way of thinking. Gal. 6:3 (NKJV): “For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.” Romans 12:16 (NKJV): “Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.” Phil. 2:3-4 (NKJV): “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV): “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”
