The power of the living God moved mightily on Charles Wesley as he wrote the great hymn O For A Thousand Tongues. “O for a thousand tongues to sing My great Redeemer’s praise, the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of His grace. My gracious Master and my God, assist me to proclaim, to spread through all the earth abroad the honors of Thy name. Jesus! The name that charms our fears, that bids our sorrows cease; ‘Tis music in the sinner’s ears, ‘tis life, and health, and peace. He breaks the power of canceled sin; He sets the prisoner free; His blood can make the foulest clean; His blood availed for me.”
If this servant had a thousand tongues, I could not praise Him enough for all that He has done for me and through me to reach this spiritually lost world over the past 37 years (Psalm 150)! Yesterday I was so very blessed and privileged to share the gospel at Beulah Baptist Church in Mohawk, TN where Pastor John Rogers has been the pastor for the past 21 years. My Lord had His servant to speak on the subject The Spiritual State of These United States. The text was Psalm 33:12 (NKJV) “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.” Jim and Tammy Fox and Teresa Byrd led their church in worship. They sang patriotic songs like the Battle Hymn of the Republic, America the Beautiful, and My Country Tis of Thee. They did not even yet know the message that my Lord had laid upon my heart to deliver! Yes, our great God never makes mistakes! The people in attendance hung on every word from the WORD! Several of them raised their hands that they had prayed with me to recommit their lives to their Lord, but they did not come forward during the public invitation. As soon as the service ended, each of them came to me to tell me that they had recommitted their lives to their Lord! Neither of the three people who came to me are regular members of Beulah Baptist Church, but they were invited guests!
Pastor John and the people he shepherds have allowed me to serve alongside them in the First Priority Bible Club in the public school system. What wonderful joy to see several thousand young people born again over the past 21 years! After a two-year absence due to COVID, we will be at West View Middle School in Morristown on Friday, Nov. 19. Please pray for many young people to be born again!
Last Thursday I was honored to be back at the penal institution that had been closed to guests due to COVID. The leaders there made it very clear to me that they were glad to have me back! As soon as I walked into the room, a young man who had been ordered to assist me in setting up came to me and said: “Brother Harvel, I need to talk to you.” He knew me from being there in the past. “Please forgive me for being emotional,” he stated as tears filled his beautiful eyes. “I was falsely accused of a crime and the truth has finally come out. I will be set free soon! I’m going home!” By this time, tears of great joy were streaming down his handsome face. I hugged him and we prayed and thanked God for bringing the truth of his life out! In John 8:32 (NKJV) Jesus states: “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” The men started coming into the room that they call the “Church Room.” Immediately, one of the men said: “Brother Harvel, we are glad to see you back here.” Another young man said: “I have some great news. I was saved two days ago!” Oh, he was elated! And so was I! I asked for public testimonies and the young man who had greeted me initially stood as he gave a very powerful testimony of how his Lord had set him free from his drug addiction! Another young man who has attended the service in the past stood and asked for prayer as he was facing surgery the next day. I had all the men to come and lay their hands on him and pray! He said: “Boy, am I glad to be here today!” I wish that you could hear these young men literally pour their hearts out to their Lord in public prayer! After the message, The Spiritual State of These United States, one young man was born again while another young man recommitted his life to his Lord!
Yes, the gospel still works when we work! The message titled Is Hell for Real? has been viewed by over 2,000 people internationally! Can you believe that? We have many messages online and on television and the one on HELL is the one that is being viewed the most! Only the power of God could lead people in this culture to a message with that title!
Thank you for standing with this soul winner as we are making a great difference in the lives of spiritually lost people as well as those who are born again! That is the calling of a true New Testament evangelist (1 Cor. 9:19-23)! I love and appreciate you!
