One of my life verses is our great God’s word to His prophet Jeremiah while he was in prison: “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty (inaccessible) things, which you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV). I am not a name it and claim it purveyor or a health and wealth prosperity charlatan, but I do believe the powerful Word of Almighty God! It will never ever change just like the character of the ONE who wrote it through His choice writers! I have, and I continue to plead with my Lord to do in and through me what only He can do!
This past Friday I was honored to stand alongside Pastor John Rogers once again at the First Priority Bible Club of Westview Middle School in Morristown, TN. Pastor John has been serving his Lord here for 20 years! He began this Bible Club one year before he began pastoring the great servants of Beulah Baptist Church in Greene County. His Lord has and He continues to honor John’s sacrificial and selfless labors. Hundreds of precious young people have been born again through the First Priority ministry in the counties of Hamblen, Greene, Jefferson, and Cocke over the past 20 years.
Forty-one young people from grades 6-8 attended this past Friday. I used the More Life tract which has been designed by Steve Pearson, the director of evangelism for the TN Baptist Mission Board. It is an excellent tract! The young people hung on my every word! Nine of them stated on the decision card that they had prayed the sinner’s prayer with me to be born again! Thirteen of them stated on the decision card that they desire to be more involved in serving their Lord! As they were dismissed, I personally gave a New Believer’s New Testament to each young person who was born again, and a brand new Bible to the young people who do not own their own Bible. I wish that you could have seen the look on their faces! Each young person had a legitimate need for a spiritual resource! Your gifts make it possible for me to purchase these resources and give them out freely to each person, no matter their age, who makes a decision wherever I go (Matthew 10:8). I have been giving follow-up resources and new Bibles to people since before my Lord ever called me into the field of evangelism. It is a conviction that I have always had in my heart from my Lord!
Pastor Charles Brewer of Lebanon Baptist Church in Talbott, TN began to lead the people he pastors to prayer walk the halls of Westview Middle School every morning before the students arrive. They have been praying since the school year began. I could tell that their prayers made a great difference in the First Priority Bible Club meeting on Friday morning. When I gave the invitation for them to pray to be saved, a holy hush literally settled down on the room! Normally, as soon as they pray with me, they are ready to go, but not this time! The power of God kept them right there until Pastor John Rogers could speak with them. I praise my Lord for faithful pastors who just do what their Lord tells them to do (I Samuel 15:22)!
I was also privileged to stand in the pulpit of Zion Grove Baptist Church in Sevierville, TN where Royce Bailey is the pastor. This church is moving forward in bold, daring, dynamic faith for their Lord! I have been privileged to assist them for over 10 years! The enemy has pounced on them on many occasions through the years, but they have not quit! My Lord had His servant to encourage them that absolutely nothing can ever separate them from His great love! The great Apostle Paul paintedly and pointedly makes this fact clear in Romans 8:31-39.
I need your prayers as I will be traveling to the great state of Oklahoma for a meeting with key leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention and key leaders of the Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists February 11-13. We will be discussing how to reach the diverse people of America today with the life-changing message of the gospel. It is a formidable challenge, to say the least, and it will never be accomplished if we do not work together!
Pastor Milton Knox of First Baptist Church in Dayton, TN has invited me to assist him Feb. 22-24 as his evangelism team closes out this year’s Upward Basketball program. Upward is a very valuable evangelistic tool when it is used Biblically! The children involved, as well as their parents, are open to receive the glorious gospel message through the sport of basketball. Please pray that parents and their children will be born again!
The longer that I serve my Lord in this calling to win the spiritually lost to Him, the more I see how His great heart beats to save them from a devil’s literal burning hell! His heartbeat is my heartbeat! Thank you for standing with me with your powerful prayers and financial support. Only our Lord knows how much time is left before He returns (Matthew 24:36-44)!
